Keeping your glasses in top shape
We are always happy to see you for new glasses, but we know that you love the ones you already have too! We are here to help keep them in tip-top shape. Here are our most common fixes, but if you don’t see what you need, please contact us and we will see if there is an option available for you.
Our adjustments are always free! If your glasses slide down, pinch, leave red marks, or just don’t feel as good as they used to, bring them in for a tune-up anytime. It’s amazing what a tune-up can do for your daily comfort and may even improve your vision.
Nosepads can need replacement for many reasons if one falls off, breaks off, or if they become discoloured. We carry nosepads of all kinds to be able to fix just about all types fitted to any shape of nose.
Whether it’s a hinge screw, nosepad screw, eyewire screw or anywhere else on your glasses, we stock screws of all shapes and sizes to fix you up.
Temples (otherwise knows at the arms, stems, or legs) whether plastic or metal can need replacement due to breakage or loss. We carry many new temples to refurbish old glasses, or repair parts to do an emergency fix.
For titanium frames, we use a sophisticated laser soldering company to mend this high tech metal with a nice clean finish. These solders come with a one year warranty.
Plastic frames are often hard to repair, but when we do it we use a metal post and adhesive combo to fix broken plastic bridges and rims. *This service is usually reserved for last resort emergency repair and for temporary use.
Plastic frames can have their metal hinges broken or pulled out, we use a hinge sinking machine to re-set or replace hinges to give these frames new life.
We can make custom clip ons for any frame, these are available in different styles and with different lens choices to suit your needs.
Spring hinge temples (ones that spring out when you pull them) can break on older glasses. We can either use our laser soldering company to fix this or more often replace these temples with custom cut new spring hinge temples.
Temple tips are the plastic ends on the side of a metal frame (the part that goes over your ears). These can break down, get eaten by the dog, or discolour. We carry a variety of sizes and colour to make your glasses comfortable and looking like new again
If you have lenses that are still good but a broken frame, or a frame you just don’t like anymore, we can try to cut your lenses into a new frame. Just come in to see us with your lenses and we will look for a new frame that will work for you.
Some plastic frames can lose their shine after a while, even look like they have a white film. This is just natural wear and tear and exposure to the elements. Bring them in for a full frame polishing anytime and make them look like new again.
If your plastic frames don’t fit as well as you’d like them to on your nose, we can add one of three styles of nosepads to raise them up, make them more secure, or move them away from your eyelashes. Bring your frames into the store to look at samples and find the style that will work best for you.
*We highly recommend booking an appointment for glasses pick-ups, adjustments, and lens chats so that one of our awesome senior staff will be available to help you :) Most days we have space for browsing walk-ins, as long as we’re not short staffed, but browsing appointments can also be pre-booked if you have a specific time you would like to come in and would like one of our team to be available to help without having to wait. So feel free to come on by and see if we have space available, or let us know ahead of time and we’ll be all ready for you when you arrive 🙂
